CHESTER,
VIRGINIA PEARL
Virginia Pearl Chester, a vibrant and adventurous soul, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2024, in Cape May Court House, NJ. Virginia was born in Fostoria, OH, on December 20, 1926, to the late Theodore Roosevelt Byrd and Fernelia Stykeman Byrd. She was a formidable matriarch who will be forever remembered by her children Joe, Timothy, Paul, and Sue Ann Poulin, along with her 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grand-
daughter. In eternal rest, she has been reunited with her husband, Louis Lyman Chester, her beloved son Danny Chester, and her dear mother.
Virginia's life was marked by an unwavering spirit of adventure and community service. While raising her children in North Jersey, she became a successful real estate agent. In 1973, she moved from North Jersey to North Wildwood. She transitioned into real estate investment, eventually settling in Cape May Court House in 1982. Virginia's profound impact on others was felt as she served on the Board for Habitat for Humanity and as a supportive member of Parents Without Partners.
As a child, she expressed a natural talent for the arts, music, and painting. These lifelong passions were demonstrated through her painting of still life, woodcarving of birds, and music. These pastimes allowed her to express her creativity and love for nature. Even in her 70's, she embraced the open road, traveling solo cross country. Continuing to take on new social opportunities including becoming an avid kayaker. All a testament to her indomitable spirit.
Virginia's rich legacy of love, friendliness, and sense of humor continues to resonate in the lives of those she touched. Her story is one of a fulfilled life, painted with the bold strokes of adventure, care, and devotion.
