Woodbine Motorcyclist Killed in Route 47 Crash

By Christopher South

A motorcyclist from Woodbine was killed after an automobile turned left in front of him, resulting in a collision.

At around 11:15 p.m. June 9, State Police troopers responded to the scene of the accident on Route 47 near Main Street in the Maurice River Township section of Cumberland County.

The State Police said Andrew Flynn, 35, was on his motorcycle driving south on Route 47 when a northbound car driven by a Millville woman, 34, made a left turn into a parking lot in front of the motorcycle, and the two vehicles collided.

Flynn was thrown from his motorcycle and sustained fatal injuries, State Police said. The driver of the car suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

No charges have been announced, but the crash remains under investigation, police said.

The Herald reported last fall on left-turning cars and the danger they pose to motorcycle riders. Two motorcycle riders had been killed in a span of three weeks after vehicles attempted to make left turns and apparently did not see the motorcycles.
