ROSSI, LINA SALONE

ROSSI, LINA SALONE
Lina Salone Rossi, 88, of Rio Grande, NJ – passed away on June 5, 2025.
She was born on Easter Sunday, March 28, 1937, in Loreto Aprutino in her beloved homeland of Italy. Lina was predeceased by her spouse, Julio Rossi; her mother, Francesca Donatelli Salone; her father, Zopitoantonio Salone; her sister, Antoinetta Pirelli; her brother-in-law, Enzo Laguardia; her brother-in-law, Romolo Rossi; her sister-in-law, Catherine Rossi; her nephew, Michael Rossi; and her nephew, Donald Rossi.
She is survived by her sons, Robert and Joseph (Joia) Rossi; her sister, Concetta Laguardia; her adored grandsons, Philip and Peter (Heather) Rossi; her brother-in-law, Leonardo Pirelli; her nieces, Maria Francesca (Fernando) Morelli, Maria Elena (Giacomo) Battistelli, and Caterina (Palucci) Cristiano; and her nephews Claudio (Paola) and Oliviero Pirelli; and Richard and James (Kelly) Rossi.
Lina and Julio were married on January 25, 1958. The couple owned and operated Rio Grande's Parkway Motel for 50 years. Lina learned the English language from her many loyal motel customers, including families and couples who became lifelong friends.
At the doorstep to Wildwood's Five Mile Island, the Parkway Motel offered clean, comfortable, no-frills lodging and homemade hospitality. Countless home-cooked meals with guests were hosted in the cozy, green, corner house at Fifth Street and Wildwood Boulevard.
Lina cherished the frequent cards and letters she received from her customers over the decades. Visitors were treated to her treasure trove of nostalgic photographs.
Lina was a strong woman with great conviction. She did not hesitate to share her views about what she felt the world needed to be a better place.
She was an active member of the St. Raymond's PTA when her sons attended the now-shuttered Villas parochial school. She was a loyal follower of the “General Hospital” soap opera and in her later years she enjoyed watching “Shark Tank.” She also enjoyed weather-permitting walks to the Rio Grande Shop Rite.
Throughout her long life, Lina stood staunchly on her values and beliefs. She came to America as a 21-year-old newlywed who could not speak the English language, but her fortitude and achievements made a very strong statement.
Services will be Friday, June 13, 2025 at Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. Visitation will be 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Service will begin at 11:30 a.m. Interment is private.
