Wildwood Man Dies After Car Hits Tree

GOSHEN – A Wildwood man was killed and his passenger was injured when his car went off Route 47 in the Goshen section of Middle Township and struck a tree.

The Middle Township Police Department said that on Sunday, June 8, at around 6 a.m., Javier Ayala, 52, was traveling north on Route 47 when, for unknown reasons, the car left the roadway; police responded to a report of a one-vehicle accident with entrapment.

Ayala was pronounced dead at the scene, and a female passenger was extricated and transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-Mainland for further treatment.

Route 47 was closed for approximately four hours. The accident is under investigation by the Middle Township Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit and the Middle Township Accident Crash Unit.

Also assisting at the scene were the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, Goshen Fire Department, Cape May Court House Fire Department, New Jersey Department of Transportation and AtlantiCare Emergency Medical Services.
