VEES, ANNA MARIE

VEES, ANNA MARIE
Mrs. Anna Marie Vees, 103 years young, a resident of North Cape May, entered into eternal rest Thursday, April 10 at Cooper-Cape Regional Medical Center Cape May Court House.
Anna was one of 7 children born to the late James Bernard and Anna Gertrude (Butler) Mills. She was born in Philadelphia and moved to Somerdale NJ when she was 5 years old. Being the oldest daughter, she helped raise her younger siblings after her father died in 1931. She lived in Somerdale, Voorhees, and Elmtown, but her favorite place to live was North Cape May.
In 1952, Anna married the love of her life, Jack Vees. Early in their marriage Anna worked at RCA in Camden. In 1955 they became the parents of their first child, Jack. Anna continued to work at RCA until their second child Nancy was born in 1959. It was then she decided to leave RCA and devote her time to her family.
A member of the Parish of St. John Neumann Church of St. John of God, she had a deep love of her faith and God. She was also proud of her Irish heritage. Anna didn't let any grass grow under her feet. She enjoyed traveling to the island of St. Martin, taking cruises and going to the casinos where she could be found taking a chance at the blackjack tables. She truly loved life and was fortunate to see many things over her 103 years, both good and bad.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jack (December 19, 2019) and her six siblings.
Anna will be deeply missed by her children, Nancy, Jack, and his wife, Libby Van Cleve. Her spirit will live on in her one and only grandchild, her grand-daughter Nola, with whom she had a most special connection. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Wednesday, April 16 at the Parish of St. John Neumann Church of St. John of God 680 Town Bank Road North Cape May. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 10AM until the time of Mass. Entombment will follow on the grounds of All Saints Cemetery 1300 Tuckahoe Road Newfield NJ 08344. Evoy Funeral Home 3218 Bayshore Road North Cape May NJ 08204 has been entrusted with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to: The Parish of St. John Neumann, 680 Townbank Rd. North Cape May, NJ 08204
