MIXNER, STEPHEN E.

MIXNER, STEPHEN E.
Stephen E. Mixner, 75, of Stone Harbor, NJ, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, after courageously living with Parkinson's Disease for over eight years.
Born and raised in Stone Harbor, Steve was the beloved son of the late Ellis “Mike” Mixner and Dorothy “Dottie” Mixner, and brother to the late Frank Mixner. He is survived by his devoted wife, Donna (Christman) Mixner, his wonderful sister, Suzanne Mixner Stanford, and his cherished daughters Claire Volpe (Michael), Lisa Rojas (Rodrigo), and Jillian Lamanteer (Matthew). He was the proud grandfather of Jack and Avery Volpe, and Ryan and Luke Rojas. Steve also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom brought joy to his life.
A graduate of Middle Township High School and Massanutten Military Academy, Steve built a fulfilling career as a skilled carpenter and later worked with the Stone Harbor Public Works Department. His dedication to his community was unmatched. In 1971, he joined the Stone Harbor Fire Department, where he served faithfully for 54 years, holding roles including Deputy Chief, Captain, and President. His presence was a constant at Thursday night drills, where his stories and laughter made him a favorite among fellow firefighters.
Steve was also a lifelong member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, where he served on the board and lived his faith through service and fellowship. He found joy on the golf course with friends, played on his men's softball team, The Plumbugs and enjoyed many days fishing and crabbing on their boat “Get the Net.”
To know Steve was to know joy. Family was the center of his world. Whether manning the grill at the edge of the garage with onion dip nearby, telling a legendary story, or donning a napkin headpiece to liven up a formal event, Steve brought humor, love, and warmth to every gathering. His bright blue eyes and ever-present smile made everyone feel welcome.
He was a loyal friend, a loving husband and father, a doting grandfather, and a treasured member of his community. His legacy of love, laughter, and service will live on in all who knew him.
Services will be Friday, May 2, 2025 at Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. Memorial Service will begin at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Steve's memory to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, PO Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014 or www.michaeljfox.org.
