O'CONNOR, JOSEPH BRIAN

O'CONNOR, JOSEPH BRIAN Joseph Brian O'Connor, 71, of Cape May, NJ passed away peacefully at home on December 26, 2023. Born in Philadelphia on November 12, 1952 to the late Catherine and Edward O'Connor. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, Edward and Roger O'Connor, and his sister, Rosemary Bradshaw. Brian's career spans many years, wearing many hats. Beginning the workforce in shipping at McCloskey Varnish, working his way through the ranks into management, sales, to then becoming President and part owner of EW Kaufman, ultimately selling the business and retiring after 42 years. Brian's successful work life was never to be outdone by his love of enjoying life. From playing softball, darts, and singing in a band in his youth, to golf, boating, and singing anywhere he could, for all the years of his life in Cape May. Brian is survived by his wife of 52 years, Denise (nee Meyers) O'Connor; five children, Jennifer Lapsley (Jamie), Shannon O'Connor (Fuzzy Sist), Constance O'Connor, J. Brian O'Connor, Jr., and Kaitlyn Hoff (Rob); eight grandchildren Andrew, Makayla, Parker, Braxton, Connor, Willow, Logan, and Gunnar. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, January 3, 2023 at Spilker Funeral Home, 815 Washington St., Cape May, NJ 08204. A second visitation will take place on Thursday, January 4, 2023 from 12-1:15 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 525 Washington St., Cape May, NJ 08204 followed by a Funeral Mass at 1:30.
