KARAVAN II, MARCUS H. Marcus Harry Karavan II, of Wildwood Crest, passed peacefully at Cape Regional Medical Center on May 3, 2024 at 69 years of age after a year long battle with cancer. Marcus was a proud graduate of Villanova and Nova Southeastern Universities. After joining the Cape May County Bar Association, he returned to Wildwood to serve the community that he loved as the Solicitor for the City of Wildwood for many years. He remained active within the Cape May County political scene as a former Cape May County Republican Chairman. He cultivated his longstanding law practice, where he sought to mentor attorneys at the outset of their careers. In his personal time, Marcus enjoyed playing the guitar and was an avid fan of classic rock music. He emphasized personal fitness with a focus on weight lifting. He was the oldest of two children and remained close to his younger brother George, of Northfield, over the years. He is survived by his children Mark, Michael, Jenna, and Alexa, as well as his nephew Luke. He remained a dedicated advocate for the local Greek community and enjoyed spending time with his extended family. Marcus’ many friendships and partnerships flourished, becoming like family. This includes Hamilton and Richard Wilde, of Cape May, who were like stepchildren to him.
Funeral services will be held at the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in North Wildwood, which Marcus’ parents Harry and Rose helped to found in 1968. Family and friends are welcome to a visitation on Friday, May 10 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, with his funeral service to begin promptly at 11:30 AM. Interment in Fairview Memorial Cemetery.
Memorial donations will gratefully be accepted by St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church. Condolences may be shared at vraimfh.com
