MENZ, ROBERT C., of Cape May, passed away suddenly on September 3, 2012. Bob was born in Wildwood on March 23, 1931. He was the loving husband of 52 years to Darcy M. Menz, who predeceased him in June 2004. Bob was a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. For many years, Bob and his family owned and operated the Marquis de Lafayette Hotel, the Top of the Marq and the Gold Whale Restaurants in Cape May. Since 1986, the Menz family has operated the Inn of Cape May and Aleathea’s Restaurant. Bob resided in Cape May and spent the winters in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Bob is survived by daughters, Beth Eastman and Thea Peterson; son, Derwin “Duck” (and Carol) Menz; his grandchildren, Keri (and Terk) Gindville, Tai (and Julie) Menz, Ami Menz, Cody Menz, Phil Peterson and Tori Peterson; great grandson, Gavin Gindville and great granddaughter, Piper Menz. A memorial service will be held on Thursday (Sept. 13th) at 12:30PM at Tabernacle United Methodist Church, 702 Seashore Road, Erma where friends will be received from 11AM until 12:30PM. Interment will be private in Tabernacle Cemetery, Erma.
