BICKEL, ELEANOR SCOTT

BICKEL,
ELEANOR SCOTT
July 26, 1924-
February 20, 2025
Eleanor Scott Bickel, 100, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, on February 20, 2025. Born on July 26, 1924, in Philadelphia, PA, she was the youngest of three sisters.
After World War II, Eleanor married her beloved Jack Bickel on June 15, 1946, when he returned from the war. Together, they built a life centered around family, love, and resilience. They eventually settled in the Wildwoods, where she lived for over 70 years.
Eleanor had a quick wit and a sharp sense of humor, always ready with a remark that could make you laugh. She had a deep and steady faith in the Lord, which guided her throughout her life. Her belief was a source of strength, and she lived with kindness, gratitude, and trust in God's plan. She had a soft spot for dogs and cats and a lifelong love for simple pleasures especially a bowl of vanilla ice cream. In her later years, she found great joy in car rides around the island, taking in the familiar sights of the shore.
Family was the heart of Eleanor's life. After the passing of her daughter, Linda Bickel Grassi, in 1994, she stepped in to raise Linda's children, Christa and Andrew, with the same love and care that had always defined her. She was a constant, steady presence, always offering support in quiet but meaningful ways to her family and friends.
She was known as Grammy to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a name that perfectly reflected the warmth and love she gave to her family.
Eleanor was predeceased by her husband, Jack Bickel; her daughter, Linda; her son-in-law, Fred Grassi; and her sisters, Dorothy and Ruth. She is survived by her daughters, Terri (Dennis) Hall and Cindy (Walt) Kurkowski; her grandchildren, Christa (Mario) Nocito, Andrew Grassi, Carly (Shane) Seabrook, Amanda (Chris) Romo, David (Roxy) Hall, and Scott (Morgan) Kurkowski; and her great-grandchildren, Jackson, Luke, Brody, Carter, Nora, Miles, Saylor, and Charlotte.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, March 7, at 11 a.m. at Radzieta Funeral Home in Cape May Courthouse, where family and friends will gather to honor Eleanor's memory. Visitation with the family will take place from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Love of Linda Cancer Fund at https://www.loveoflinda.org.
She will be deeply missed, but her love, humor, quiet strength, and unwavering faith will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
