TYBURSKI, BARBARA H.
Barbara Hills Tyburski, 75, of Rio Grande, NJ passed away peacefully on June 24, 2024.
Barbara was the proud only child of her loving father, James C. Hills, and mother, Gladys M. Hills. Barbara is survived by her son, Chris, and his wife, Dr. Necole Jadick. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Paul Tyburski.
Barbara dedicated her life to helping others pursue their education in many ways. Much of her early career was spent as a 3rd grade teacher at Washington School in North Arlington, NJ. There, she was recognized for her passion and talent as an inaugural recipient of the Governor's Teacher Recognition Award in 1986. Later in her career, she became the district's first ever Technology Facilitator, helping bring computing and robotics into classrooms throughout the North Arlington School District.
In retirement, Barbara worked as a Wilton cake decorating instructor and traveled the country delivering in-school teacher training for Houghton Mifflin.
Barbara's friends and family will always remember her infectious smile and laughter. Whether it was playing Fascination on the Wildwood Boardwalk, pulling the slot machine lever in Atlantic City, or playing cards with her friends, she approached life with joy. She even put her good humor to work as part of the Bumper “T” Caring Clowns program at Cape Regional Medical Center. There, her alter ego, Dr. Buttons and Bows, went room to room spreading cheer to the sick alongside her partner, Dr. Sunny (her husband Paul).
There will be a private cremation and ceremony for the immediate family per her wishes. Barbara will be interred at Saint Mary Catholic Cemetery in Cape May, NJ. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Barbara's name to the Glioblastoma Foundation. Donations can be made online at https://glioblastomafoundation.org/get-involved/donate or by mailing a check to: Glioblastoma Foundation, P.O. Box 62066, Durham, NC 27715.
