VILLAS – St. Barnabas By-the Bay Episcopal Church is delighted to welcome the Rev. Margaret Otterburn to its ranks.
Rev. Otterburn was born and raised in England, but in 1971 relocated with her husband to Northern Ireland where they raised three children. They came to the US in 1987 where she taught high school math for nine years at Irvington High School, Newark.
She left teaching upon ordination to the priesthood in 2002 and first served at Grace Church in Newark and then at the Cathedral of St Mark in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 2007 she was called to be Rector at the Church of the Messiah, Chester, New Jersey, and served there until last June. She still serves on the Board of the Senior Resource Center at Messiah. She also served on the Newark Diocesan Council, the ACTS/ VIM Board which awards grants, the Commission of Ministry, the Youth Ministries Board and as District Coordinator. She has been serving as a supply priest in many churches in the southern part of New Jersey.
Rev. Otterburn will be presiding over the following Holy Week Services where all are welcome.
Holy Saturday: March 30, 6 p.m. Easter Vigil
Easter Sunday: March 31, 9:30 a.m.
St. Barnabas By-the-Bay Episcopal Church is located at 13 West Bates Avenue and has been a part of the Villas Community for more than 77 years. Worship Service on Sunday is at 9:30 a.m. Outreach Ministries include the St. Barnabas Cares Thrift Store located at Bayshore and Matthews in Villas as well as the St. Barnabas Cares Food Pantry located in the church hall.
