McILVAINE, CHARLES

McILVAINE, CHARLES Charles McIlvaine, 87, of Cape May Court House, NJ, passed away peacefully at his home on April 10, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Estelle McIlvaine and his wife Rose Lee McIlvaine. Chuck was born in Gloucester County. He met his wife, Rose Lee, while serving in the US Army stationed in Lexington, KY. They moved to Cape May Court House in 1962. Chuck was a union carpenter with Local 1743 of Wildwood. He was a member of the former Arbutus Lodge in Cape May Court House now Cannon Lodge 104 F&AM in South Seaville. Chuck enjoyed life to the fullest. He was part of the coffee clutch guys at McDonald's and Donut Connection. He enjoyed working in his yard, gardening, and loved the beach. He could always be found on the 95th Street beach in Stone Harbor. He was known as the "flag guy" because he proudly displayed the American flag on a pole that flew high above everyone. He will miss his "beach crew" immensely. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. He was so proud of them and all their accomplishments. He loved following their many adventures. Chuck is survived by his daughter Lee Ann Russ (Grant), son Charles McIlvaine, granddaughter Megan Messick (Carl) and grandson Christopher Russ (Emma). Services will be private. In memory of Chuck, donations can be made to Masonic Charity Foundation of NJ, 902 Jacksonville Road, Burlington, NJ 08016 or at https://www.njmasonic.org/donate/. Condolences at www.radzieta.com
