Cape May Stage had a team of 15 volunteers who spent Earth Day being a good friend to our Earth by cleaning up more than 10 bags of trash from around the Robert Shackleton Playhouse, Rotary Park, the streets of Cape May, along the promenade, dunes, and beaches of Cape May.
The Earth Day clean up was inspired after a conversation among Cape May office staff to inspire volunteerism and achieve noticeable impact on waste in our environment and in Cape May.
“It was a warm and sunny day to spend time on the picturesque beach cleaning up litter and feeling like we were making a difference.” Says Roy Steinberg, Artistic Director of Cape May Stage. Roy also says “Spending time cleaning up the environment and giving back to the community we love is the perfect way to praise this planet we call home.”
Volunteers were given trash bags, t-shirts, and treated to a little snack after their hard work. Cape May Stage, in collaboration with National CleanUp Day and Keep America Beautiful, encourages communities to get up, get out, and help keep their communities clean.
