JAMES SAMUEL
James Samuel “Sam” Carter, 68, born on August 26, 1956, in Ft Eustis, Va, passed away on December 18, 2024, in Gloucester, Va. His battle with serious medical issues over the past several years, shows his courageous and heroic personality. Sam was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Disabled American Veterans organization Chapter 44 in Cape May County, NJ. After the Army, Sam began many careers working with his hands, as a painter, a scalloper, and a general contractor. Sam was always the first one to volunteer to help out a friend in need. He was as stubborn as they come, but he always knew how to have a good time. Above all, Sam loved his family immensely. Sam is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Stacy and John Hotaling, and grandson, Jase. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn McGuire and Randy Williams, as well as his brother and sister-in-law Charlie and Vicki Carter. He was predeceased by his parents, Carol and Harold Carter, and his brother, Joe Carter.
Sam was a deeply loved father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
