The County of Cape May’s 2024 Maintenance Paving contract continues with the resurfacing of Belleplain Road (CR 605) in the Township of Dennis and the Township of Upper. Belleplain Road will be resurfaced starting at Carl Mason Street and extending north to Weatherby Road (CR 548) near NJ Route 49. The work will consist of the milling and resurfacing of the roadway as part of a day paving operation. Work is expected to begin on Thursday, April 10, and will continue daily until April 18, excluding the weekend.

During the active paving operation, one lane of traffic will be maintained. At the start of the project, northbound traffic will be maintained while southbound traffic is detoured. Local traffic will be maintained, and homeowners will always have access to their properties. Traffic heading east along NJ Route 49 will be directed to continue heading east to Woodbine Road (CR 557). Traffic will be directed south along CR 557 to CR 550 west and will continue west along CR 550 back to CR 605. Normal traffic patterns will resume at the end of each day.

Upon completion of the paving of the southbound lane on or about April 14, southbound traffic will be maintained while northbound traffic is detoured. Local traffic will be maintained, and homeowners will always have access to their properties. Traffic heading north along CR 605 will be directed to head east onto CR 550. Traffic will be directed to continue heading east along CR 550 to Woodbine Road (CR 557). Traffic will then be directed to head north along CR 557 to NJ Route 49 west. Traffic will continue along NJ Route 49 west back to Weatherby Road towards CR 605. Normal traffic patterns will resume at the end of each day.

Motorists are urged to use caution when traveling through the work zone due to limited visibility, slow-moving vehicles, and the absence of traffic striping. Stick-down pavement reflectors will be installed at the end of each paving day to delineate the roadway centerline and will remain in place until the roadway receives permanent traffic striping.
