A powerful addition to the 2026 event is the Tribute to the Armed Forces and 9/11 Heroes. Marking the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, the show will transform the Wildwoods beachfront into a celebration of courage, sacrifice, and unity. Organizers are expanding the event to include special recognition ceremonies for military personnel, veterans, first responders, and their families, complemented by live military flyovers and a commemorative performance reflecting the nation’s enduring spirit.
“The 2026 Thunder Over the Waves Airshow will inspire American pride and honor those who serve,” said Louis M. Belasco, Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement Development Authority Executive Director, “This year’s salute is a heartfelt tribute and a reminder that freedom is never free. As America celebrates 250 years of freedom and independence, the dedication and sacrifice of our armed forces and first responders serve as a powerful reminder of what unites us as a nation.”
The 2026 Airshow will also introduce the Flightline Club, offering guests an upgraded viewing experience with reserved seating, hospitality, and exclusive access. The show will feature an array of headline aerial acts, including military aircraft, custom-built planes, highly skilled aerialists, and parachuters. Sponsors and community partners are invited to join in supporting this expanded celebration of aviation, community, and patriotism. In addition performances in the sky, the weekend will host island-wide events and activities for all ages.
