The opinion piece in today’s Herald on immigration is one of the most reasonable I’ve read. I’ll never understand how anyone can look at a person that was unknowingly brought here as a child and grew up only knowing the United States as their home as someone who should be deported. We believed President Trump when he said he would deport criminals. By now, we all know that most deportees are not criminals and even some U.S. citizens are being detained. The images of ICE agents in masks beating innocent people is not anything we want to condone in America. Let’s not lose sight of our compassion.
