In 1971, I spent the entire summer in Sea Isle City, renting the bottom floor of a single family home. Sea Isle was a beautiful town back then with a variety of housing. This past weekend I went back there for the first time since then. I was saddened by the sheer ugliness of the town, now dominated by huge, box-like condos with no unique designs and few original single family homes. I know that times change, but I sincerely hope that the leaders of towns like mine look to Sea Isle City as an example of what can happen when new construction is allowed to run amuck.
