As a Catholic, we need to take to heart during the Christmas season that Pope Leo has called for Europe and North America to be “a little less fearful when it comes to immigrants of different faiths". Asked about Catholics who see Islam as a “threat” to Christianity in Europe, Leo said he is aware of people’s fears, but said they are often “generated by people who are against immigration and trying to keep out people who may be from another country, another religion, another race.”
