Art Hall’s editorial(?) saying our beach communities are valuable seems to be trying to negate environmental concerns. We have enjoyed them, it is true, but we need to consider the future. Building where the ocean is reclaiming the land is worse than futile—it is short sighted and a waste of money. Beaches erode because of natural forces, over and over. To build in the path of such a repetitive natural force as tides, or storm, when climate change is undeniable is using our resources wastefully. Some places to build are a deliberate spit into the wind—or into the face of God .
