MIDDLE TOWNSHIP – The message that blazed through the Middle Township sky May 15 evening was belated, but it couldn’t be more heartfelt.
According to a release, Middle Township was planning a “surprise in the skies” for medical workers since April, when it dedicated one of its weekly front porch parties to healthcare heroes. Rain canceled the banner plane’s appearance.
The flyover was rescheduled for May 8 to coincide with Nurses and CNAs Appreciation Week. Then another dreary forecast grounded the plane.
Conditions were finally ideal for the flight’s important mission: Honoring the brave medical professionals who are bravely working on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The banner plane flyover could be seen around 5 p.m. The plane carried the message, “Thank You! We Love Our Healthcare Workers.”
The plane flew over Cape May County’s only hospital, Cape Regional Medical Center, and the entire Middle Township community.
Residents joined in the tribute by posting photos, videos and messages of gratitude for healthcare workers on Middle Township CoronaVirus Info Group, a community Facebook page that’s become a hub of positive activity and social sharing.
