CAPE MAY – Police arrested a Wildwood man Tuesday, April 1, and charged him with multiple counts of sexually assaulting a child, both in Wildwood and Cape May.

Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland, Wildwood Police Chief Joseph Murphy and Cape May Police Chief Dekon Fashaw jointly announced the arrest of Jose Antonio Angeles-Ayala, 37, a resident of the 100 block of East Lincoln Avenue, in connection with sexual assaults taking place as recently as March 16.

According to the police complaint and affidavit of probable cause issued by Cape May Municipal Court, the sexual assaults were on a child, identified as K.C.F., in a Broad Street Court residence in Cape May and at an East Lincoln Avenue residence in Wildwood.

The affidavit of probable cause gives graphic details of the rape and molestation of the child and said the child was about 8 years old when the assaults began. The victim referred to Angeles-Ayala as “Dad” throughout the affidavit.

The affidavit describes incidents of showing the victim pornography, molestation and rape and says some of the assaults took place at the victim’s grandmother’s house on East Lincoln Avenue and others at the Broad Street Court residence.

On April 1 the Prosecutor’s Office’s Special Victims Unit, the Wildwood Police Department and the Cape May Police Department arrested Angeles-Ayala following a report that Angeles-Ayala had sexually assaulted a child on numerous occasions.

A search warrant was executed in the 100 block of East Lincoln Avenue by members of all three departments and personnel from Department of Homeland Security Investigations. Several cellular and electronic devices were seized as part of the investigation.

Angeles-Ayala is facing two first-degree counts of aggravated sexual assault, two second-degree counts of sexual assault and two second-degree counts of endangering the welfare of a child. He is being held at the Cape May County Correctional Center awaiting court proceedings.

If convicted on the first-degree charges, Angeles-Ayala faces a potential prison sentence ranging from 10 to 20 years.
