COURT HOUSE – A Wildwood man was arrested on Monday, Jan. 15, and charged with physically abusing a juvenile.
Calvin Crawley Sr., 33, was arrested and charged with third-degree aggravated assault, second-degree endangering the welfare of a child and two counts related to possession of a weapon, according to a press release issued Wednesday, Jan. 17, by Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland and Middle Township Police Chief Jennifer Pooler.
The Middle Township Police Department received a report on Sunday, Jan. 14, about the physical abuse of a juvenile. A joint investigation was initiated by the county prosecutor’s Special Victims Unit and the Middle Township Police Department.
Crawley was arrested Jan. 15, as a result of that initial investigation. He was lodged at the Cape May County Correctional Center pending court proceedings.
The prosecutor said persons convicted of a second-degree crime are subject to imprisonment for five to 10 years. Persons convicted of a third-degree crime are subject to imprisonment for three to five years.
