COURT HOUSE – Police arrested a man and woman on child endangerment charges after seizing weapons and drugs from their Whitesboro residence.
On Thursday, Aug. 8, the Middle Township Police Department Major Crimes Unit, along with the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, and New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency, initiated a child endangerment investigation. Police arrested George Young IV, 44, and Victoria Willis, 32, at their residence in the 200 block of Sulloway St., Whitesboro.
Law enforcement executed a search warrant on the residence and located 404 prescription legend pills, one sawed-off shotgun, and one defaced handgun with a high-capacity magazine.
Young and Willis were charged with two counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child; third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance, namely Alprazolam; fourth-degree possession of Gabapentin, a prescription legend drug; third-degree possession of a prohibited weapon for the sawed-off shotgun; fourth-degree possession of a prohibited weapon for the defaced firearm; fourth-degree possession of a prohibited weapon for the high-capacity magazine; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a disorderly persons offense.
Young and Willis were both placed on warrants and lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center pending court proceedings.
Individuals convicted of a second-degree crime are subject to a term of imprisonment of five to 10 years in state prison. Individuals convicted of a third-degree crime are subject to a term of imprisonment of one to five years in state prison. Individuals convicted of a fourth-degree crime are subject to a term of imprisonment of up to 18 months in state prison.
