RIO GRANDE – The Cape May County Human Services Department is happy to report that effective Thursday, April 3, the Cape May County Division of Veterans’ Services is relocating to a larger office space at County Commons in Rio Grande. While the Division remains in its current Rio Grande location at County Commons, the Division has been moved just down the hall, to new and improved facilities that will best serve the resident veterans in our community.

The Cape May County Division of Veterans’ Services takes great pride in guiding and supporting our veterans, helping them navigate and apply for benefits through the federal Veterans Administration, while also connecting them with valuable federal, state, and local resources available to them. With deep respect for their service, the Division also oversees burial arrangements at Cape May County’s Gerald M. Thornton Veterans Cemetery.

County Commissioner Bobby Barr, liaison to the Division of Veterans’ Services, proudly shared that in 2024, the division provided dedicated support to 938 veterans through individual appointments, assisted 1,178 walk-in visitors, participated in 25 outreach events, responded to 1,634 calls, and compassionately facilitated 119 honorable burials.

“The decision to relocate was made with the future in mind – to ensure we could expand and enhance the services we provide. We are deeply honored to serve the veterans of Cape May County, and we look forward with great enthusiasm to the opportunities our new larger space and anticipated growth in staffing will bring,” stated Barr.

Located at County Commons, 3801 Route 9 South, Unit 4, Rio Grande, NJ 08242, the Cape May County Division of Veterans’ Services is a division under the umbrella of the Cape May County Department of Human Services. Hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The division staff is happy to assist all residents of Cape May County and are available during regular business hours either in person or via phone at 609-886-2762.
