Folks of all walks of life come to the festival- even horses!

By Skylar Williamson

The island communities sometimes hog up all the attention, but this week, we’re highlighting Upper Township’s Fall Festival. Putting on a festival of this size isn’t easy. They even have laser tag, isn’t that crazy?

UPPER TOWNSHIP – Fall in New Jersey is more than just pumpkin spice and cooler nights—it’s also Do the Shore’s favorite season: festival season! And few communities embrace it quite like Upper Township. With its deep history, close-knit spirit, and love of local traditions, Upper Township knows how to throw a celebration that honors the past while creating new memories for families year after year.

Upper Township’s story goes back centuries. The township has always had strong agricultural roots, with farming and fishing shaping the area’s economy and culture. Community gatherings were central to township life, and there’s no better way to bring everyone together than a festival.

Upper Township doesn’t cheap out on the bounce houses.

That sense of tradition has carried on for generations, turning local festivals into something more than just a basic even: they’re part of Upper Township’s identity.

The Upper Township Fall Festival is one of those traditions. It began as a way to celebrate the season and the township’s history, from its agricultural beginnings to its vibrant present. What started small has grown into a large, family-friendly event that draws residents and visitors from all over Cape May County.

Stop by and grab a beer!

It’s the kind of festival where you’ll see kids running around, all types of food trucks, and live entertainment—it’s just plain nostalgic. They bring out the big guns, too: expect laser tag, giant inflatables, and other activities you won’t find many other places down here.

The festival began as a car show that took place on the first Saturday after Halloween. Now, the festival has evolved into a family event taking place on the first Sunday in October at Amanda’s Field. And the car show is still part of it, don’t worry!

This year’s festival promises plenty of seasonal fun. Attendees can look forward to live music from Cape May Entertainment, a Beer Garden provided by Ludlam Island Brewery, food trucks, and lots of old cars on display from collectors across the Cape.

And no, they didn’t forget about the kids. The festival will feature Laser tag from Lone Wolf Gaming and a whole area for Kids Zone Sports Inflatables. There is going to be something for everyone.

Beyond the attractions, what makes the Upper Township Fall Festival special is the way it brings people together. It’s a chance for families to enjoy the season, for locals to show off their talents, especially local car enthusiasts, and for visitors to get a taste of small-town charm.

As the leaves turn and the air gets crisp, the Upper Township fall Festival is a reminder that fall is about more than just a season—it’s about tradition, community and a shared love for gathering together.
