DENNISVILLE – Two firefighters suffered minor injuries when a vehicle struck a Dennis Township Volunteer Fire Company pickup that was blocking Route 47 due to an earlier accident on the roadway on Monday, Jan. 6, during the snow emergency, the fire company reported.

According to information released by the company, firefighters were engaged in blocking traffic with the pickup’s emergency lights activated due to an overturned commercial vehicle on Route 47.

At around 1:50 p.m. on Jan. 6, the pickup, in which the firefighters were sitting, was struck by a vehicle near the intersection of Tyler Road and Route 47. As a result, the two firefighters were transported to an area hospital, where they were treated and released. The driver of the striking vehicle was also transported to the hospital.

The fire company said AtlantiCare EMS, Inspira EMS and the State Police also responded to the scene and gave assistance.

“We encourage everyone to slow down, move over for emergency vehicles,” the fire company said.
