With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Kathryn “Kathi” Melady Thompson, aged 79, of Blossburg, Pennsylvania, and formerly of Cape May, New Jersey. Kathi departed this life on December 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on August 6, 1946, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Kathi was the cherished eldest daughter of John and Kathryn Roddy. On March 16, 1967, she married Frederick Melady, the love of her life, and together they shared over 40 beautiful years of marriage until his passing in 2009.
Kathi had a joyful spirit and a passion for bingo, the Game Show Network, and her beloved cat, Kitty. She adored her family, especially her six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Frederick Melady and Tom Thompson, and her children, Frederick Melady, Wendy (Elwell) Melady, and Kelli (Melady) Kircher.
Kathi is survived by her son Patrick John and his wife, Michelle Melady of Blossburg, PA; daughter Kathleen and her husband, Brian Conway of Westfield, NJ. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren, Ashley Melady, Mary Melady (Kyle Loughner), Patrick John Melady, Isabella Conway, Sophia Conway and a granddaughter at heart, Christina (Michael) Raspa; and her great-grandchildren, Martin Sherwood, Maura Sherwood, Rylee Loughner, Maverick Bogaczyk, Thomas Raspa, Michael Raspa and Maci Raspa . She is also survived by her sisters, Rebecca Spencer (Thomas) And Patricia Vitale (Dave).
Kathi's warmth and love will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her memory will forever remain in our hearts.
A private memorial service will be held in her honor on March 16, 2026. In Lieu of flowers, the family ask that a donation be made to The Gatehouse Hospice at UPMC Divine Providence Hospital.
