Experience nature in its purest form at the Cape May National Wildlife Refuge—the perfect place to decompress, unwind, and reconnect with the natural world. Located at 12001 Pacific Avenue, Wildwood Crest, this peaceful paradise offers a relaxing escape from everyday stress.

The refuge is yours to explore. Start your adventure with a Bike/Ride Scavenger Hunt, offered Wednesday through Monday, 9 a.m. to Noon. Ride your bike to the refuge to qualify, and register at the Visitor Center (open 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., closed Tuesdays). You’ll explore two scenic trails, and upon completion, receive a sport backpack filled with goodies!

Kids Nature Arts Class
Thursdays: June 26, July 17, and August 14 | 10:00–11:00 AM
For school-aged children accompanied by an adult. All materials provided. Registration required at the website listed below.

Plein Air Watercolor Class
Thursdays: July 17 and August 21 | 1:00–3:00 PM
Led by local artist Janet McShain (ages 18+). All materials provided. Please bring a portable chair, sunscreen, and water. Register by emailing the address on the website below.

Family-Friendly Nature Walks
Saturdays: June 25, July 5, July 12, and July 19 | 9:00 AM
Enjoy a guided nature walk! Wear sunscreen and hats. Binoculars will be provided.

Children’s Nature Story Time & Activity
Wednesdays: June 25 through August 20 | 9:30–10:30 AM
For ages 3–8 (accompanied by an adult). Fun and educational nature-themed stories and activities.

Wild Walks with Ranger Olivia
Fridays starting June 20, then every Wednesday & Friday through September | 11:00 AM
For children 8 and up. Meet at the gazebo next to the Visitor Center. Explore the South Dune Trail and discover the plants and animals that call the refuge home.
