TEMPEST SR., RAYMOND BRUCE

TEMPEST SR., RAYMOND BRUCE Raymond Bruce Tempest Sr., 81, of Cape May, NJ, passed away September 24, 2023 at the Select Hospital, Atlantic City. Born to John Wilson Tempest and Florence (Wolford) Tempest on October 23, 1941 in Philadelphia, PA. Bruce graduated from the University of Miami and was a charismatic entrepreneur who had many businesses including Deco Dartboards, the Sands Motel, El Coronado Hotel, Sundance, Wildwood Bowl and Primerica Financial Services. He became a follower of Jesus and developed a passion for missions, using his talents to support ministries in India and Uganda. He was an elder at The Carpenter's Shop of Wildwood, NJ; on the board of Gospel Outbound, was part of the Wednesday Morning Men's Fellowship at the Herald and attended the Assembly of God when in Duncannon, PA. He experienced a miraculous healing from Stage IV Cancer in 2012 and lived eleven additional blessed years. He was also passionate about fine woodworking and shooting sports. He held memberships with the Bayshore Sportsmen, Cumberland Riflemen, Duncannon Sportsmen and Perry County (PA) Regulators. He was predeceased by his brother, Jay Tempest; sister, Lorraine Johnson and sons, Raymond, Steven and Johnny. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Gwenne Tempest; former wife, Lucette Brody; daughter, Melanie Tempest (son in law Gustavo Martinez), daughter-in-law, Lisa Tempest and grandchildren Raymond, Stephen, Juliet (Mark) and Annalise (Michael) Tempest; Gabriella and Alessandro Martinez. A Celebration of Life Memorial, officiated by Rev. Dr. Bill Dickerson, will be held Saturday, October 14. There will be a 10 AM visitation and 11:30 service at The Carpenter's Shop, 4505 Park Blvd, Wildwood, NJ. Private interment at Cold Spring Cemetary.
