CREST HAVEN – Jamie Moscony, superintendent for the two county school districts, presented each district’s 2025-2026 school year budget to the county commissioners March 25, with the respective school boards afterward passing the new budgets.
The budgets for the Cape May County Special Services School District and the Cape May County Technical School District were approved by the two school boards, meeting in the commissioners room, following Moscony’s presentations.
The technical school district’s budget is $19,126,620, an increase of $1,030,839, or 5.7%, over the previous budget. The tax levy to support it increased to $9,340,779, which is $359,261 more than the previous year, or a 4% increase.
The district has budgeted for the receipt of $991,000 in tuition from adult education programs, which is a 39% increase over 2024-2025, or $280,600. State aid is not expected to change at $1,396,049.
Increased costs in the tech budget are for purchased services, up 10.56%, salaries and wages, up 8.41%, and supplies and materials, up 1.52%. Appropriation items showing a decrease are capital projects/reserves, down 28.57%, building services and copiers, down 2.41%, and miscellaneous fees and equipment, down 8.75%.
The Special Services School District’s 2025-2026 budget is $15,708,182, an increase of $870,888, or 5.87%, over the previous year. The amount of the county tax levy is $4,135,400, the same as last year.
