Drive down Route 9 in Court House, right by Nino’s, and you’ll notice a new bright spot in town: a lighting showroom by Surf Electrical Services. The long-standing electrical business has opened a new space where customers can work with a designer, choose lighting that fits their home, and plan for installation right away. Surf Electrical Services is the only electrical business in Cape May County that helps customers with every step of the process: choosing the right lighting, ordering the proper components, and making sure it all works right.

The showroom and design aspects of the business are new, but owners Meg and Mike Spirito have been in the electrical business for a long time. Mike, a certified Master Electrician, has been interested in electrical work since he interned with local electricians in high school. He opened his own business in 2009 and has worked with businesses across the county – MudHen Brewing Company, Poppi’s, and Cape Resort’s Beach Shack– to install lighting affordably and on time.

Over the years, he’s worked on everything from large-scale new construction in Stone Harbor and Avalon to smaller projects like installing ceiling fans or fixing flickering lights.

In 2022, Meg officially joined the business. She brings a fresh design-oriented perspective that lets them expand the scope of their services. Though Meg still works two days a week as an X-ray technician, she spends the rest of her week helping customers find out what lighting fixtures will work in their spaces.

Meg and her team can work with a building’s blueprints, with architects, and with locals just looking for a lighting shakeup. “I help customers understand their style, their taste, and their homes,” Meg said.

“Lighting is one of the most important mood-setting parts of a home,” Meg said. “The quality of lighting fixtures and the way light shapes a room often gets overlooked in new construction, but we can help people curate the right lighting for their space, from the fixtures to the installation.”

The new showroom in Cape May Court House is a game-changer for the business. “We want to be a one-stop shop,” Meg said. “If you need new light fixtures, we can give you a unique, one-on-one experience, go to your house, see what kind of fixtures you need, and handle everything from start to finish.” Unlike other showrooms where customers must find their own electrician, Meg and Mike’s business provides both the design and the installation.

“It’s all about giving people the best experience possible,” Meg says. “We want to make sure that from the moment they walk into our showroom to the completion of their project, they’re taken care of.”

Surf Electrical Services is your one-stop lighting shop on the shore. They won “Best of the Jersey Shore” in both 2023 and 2024. Come see their new showroom and call to get a free quote.
