STONE HARBOR – The Borough Council is looking into an agreement with Wildwood Crest for shared uniform construction code services.
The council has also awarded an emergency contract to Trinity Inspection Services LLC for plumbing and electrical subcode work.
Administration and Finance Chair Jennifer Gensemer said at the council’s April 1 meeting that the move to a shared service agreement achieves two purposes. It allows the borough to deal with retirements and departures in the construction office, including the retirement of the construction official.
It also permits some expenses associated with the construction office to move from being part of the state appropriation cap process to being outside that process. Stone Harbor’s budget has been constrained by the appropriation cap rules.
The emergency award to Trinity allows the borough to receive immediate services while finalizing the shared agreement with Wildwood Crest. Gensemer said the borough’s plumbing subcode official is retiring, and the electrical subcode official is transferring employment to Trinity.
Payment arrangements for Trinity will remain in place until the end of the year. For 2026, the borough will conduct a bid process for the functions, Gensemer said.
She added that the emergency award to Trinity ensures “that the borough remains in full compliance with state construction code requirements.”
