Rosalie M. Sponaugle, 84, passed away unexpectedly at home in Venice, FL, on July 31.
Rosalie was born to J. Francis and Marguerite Miles Sturgis on March 3, 1940, in West Chester, PA. She grew up outside Kennett Square, attended the Unionville schools, grad-
uating in 1958. She then received her degree from West Chester State College in 1962, and was an elementary school teacher. In the Summer of 1962, Rosalie met her future husband Tom in Stone Harbor, NJ, and they married in 1964. This past June they celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary.
After living in Pen Argyl and Lancaster, PA and Richmond, VA, they relocated to Avalon, NJ, in 1975, where Tom started his real estate career. Rosalie was a homemaker, raising her children, and was active in the Avalon Methodist Church, PTA, Hospital Auxiliary, and other community events. In 1993, Rosalie and Tom relocated to Venice, FL, where Tom continued his real estate career. Rosalie obtained her real estate license and assisted him in his business. Rosalie was for many years, up until her passing, a friend of the Jacaranda Library, and very much enjoyed her work in the Bookshop. Rosalie loved her family, her golden retrievers, and enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading, the Venice Theatre, the Venice Symphony, traveling and their stays at their vacation home in Tennessee.
Rosalie was predeceased by her parents, J. Francis and Marguerite Miles Sturgis, and sisters Virginia Rees and Barbara Sturgis. She is survived by her husband Thomas H. Sponaugle of Venice, FL; her brother James F. Sturgis, Jr. (Loretta) of New Holland, PA; her son Thomas B. (Mary) of Lancaster, PA; her daughter Dr. Lynne S. Crosby (Russell) of Peachtree Corners, GA; and her grandchildren Sophia, Benjamin and Anna Sponaugle. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law, Boyd L. Sponaugle Jr. of Lancaster, PA, and Brian B. Campbell of Erma, NJ, and her niece and nephews.
LANOCE, JR. VALENTINO JOSEPH Valentino Joseph Lanoce, Jr, age 92 of Jensen Beach, Florida and Wildwood, New Jersey passed away on December 30, 2024, at his home in Jensen Beach, Florida. Valentino was born on October 2, 1932, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Valentino Lanoce, Sr. and Antoinette (Secreta) Lanoce.
