Snakes and Stories and Science, Oh My! Family Science Night at the Cape May Point Science Center

From the Cape May Point Science Center

Grab your tickets for our first-ever Family Science Night on this Thursday, July 11th from 5-7 PM. Walk-ins are welcome, but advance tickets are encouraged.

Come rotate through these stations and engage in fun science activities:

· Raves for REPTILES! – Learn more about what makes snakes, lizards, turtles and other reptiles unique and visit with some real, live ones up close!

· Nature Journaling – Decorate the cover of your own nature journal (provided, one per visitor) and then try your hand at sketching some flowers and insects in our pollinator garden.

· Exploring Cetacean Photo Identification – Learn about how marine mammal researchers tell individual dolphins and whales apart and how humpback whales get their names. Then create your own whale tail pattern and give it a name!

· Pollinators are the Bomb! – Make your own seed bombs containing native plant seeds to take home and help you create important habitat for bees, butterflies and more in your own yard!

· SORT IT OUT Science Game – Use natural objects we provide to investigate the scientific practice of classification.

· Nature Stories – Come relax to readings of specially selected nature-inspired storybooks.

· PLUS Explore our science exhibits, go on a Science Center scavenger hunt and more!

This program is recommended for science lovers 4 years old and up accompanied by their caregivers.

Advance tickets can be purchased at https://www.capemaypointsciencecenter.org/events/family-science-night . And if you can’t come this month, we’ll be doing it again on Thursday August 8th!

Gaga for Gulls! Learn more about those summer menaces from local Ocean County naturalist and bird guide, Josh Gant at our Third Thursday Lunchtime Lecture on Thursday, July 18th. Grab a take-out lunch from your favorite eatery (we recommend Homestyle To Go, our lecture series sponsors!) and bring it on over to the Science Center and enjoy this informative talk entitled They are not called Seagulls- the many gull species of New Jersey.
