SEA ISLE CITY – Mayor Leonard Desiderio’s weekly report to the City Council on May 21 spoke of more than 500 foundation piles being installed through the month of June at the site of the city’s new community center. The center is the one project under construction that will carry forward through the summer.

Philadelphia-based Earnest Bock and Sons, winners of the construction contract, has agreed to a series of actions to help mitigate disruption from the ongoing construction on neighbors and visitors during the busy summer season. During the summer the town of less than 3,000 souls mushrooms to a population of over 45,000, according to statistics from the county tourism office.

The construction company has agreed to enter and leave the site from points on Central Avenue so as to avoid impacting neighboring residential streets. The company will also ensure that any vehicles parked off-site do not take spaces that can be legally used by the public. Parking is a major issue in the city during the summer.

Desiderio said the entire project is scheduled to be completed by September 2025.
