STONE HARBOR – While delivering his regular report to the borough council, Administrator Manny Parada disclosed that Chief Financial Officer James Craft will be retiring sometime after the 2024 budget season, which begins this month and runs through the late spring or early summer.

Craft is a fixture on Seven Mile Island, where he also serves as CFO of neighboring Avalon. He is actually an employee of Avalon who serves in Stone Harbor through a shared services agreement.

The matter came up at the Tuesday, Nov. 7, meeting of the council when Parada said there was a need to contract with a human resources professional to get the process of finding a new CFO started.

That Parada was discussing a Stone Harbor search for a CFO might mean the borough is considering ending its sharing agreement with Avalon and is looking to have a financial professional dedicated solely to the borough.
