SEA ISLE CITY – The Sea Isle City Police Department has charged a local man with aggravated assault related to an incident at the Oar House Pub, on 42nd Place.
Police announced that Patrick Iannone, 21, of Sea Isle City, was charged with third-degree aggravated assault stemming from the incident that took place, July 30, at approximately 7:20 p.m.
The time of the incident described in a press release from the police department corresponds to an assault on Philadelphia television personality, Fox 29’s Bob Kelly. Kelly’s assault was documented by numerous media outlets.
Kelly is a traffic reporter who does a series of on-the-road reports for Fox 29.
According to a Philadelphia Inquirer article, Kelly was emceeing a party at the tavern when a young man poured beer on Kelly’s shoulder while filming the incident. Kelly, according to the Inquirer, attempted to swat away the beer and the young man punched him in the face. Kelly was taken to Cape Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
Kelly was reportedly back to work Aug. 1.
The attack is being likened to a similar one on recording artist Cardi B, where a woman splashed water on the singer while she was performing. Cardi B then threw her microphone at the fan, striking her. These attacks are alleged to be a part of a TikTok challenge.
A spokesperson for Sea Isle City declined to say if Iannone’s arrest was related to the Kelly incident, saying it is the city’s position not to make comments related to the victim of an incident.
After his arrest, Iannone was released on a summons. The Sea Isle City Police Department Detective Division continues its investigation of the case.
