From Sea Isle City

SEA ISLE CITY – Mayor Leonard Desiderio respectfully asks everyone to recognize and commemorate National POW-MIA Recognition Day on Friday, September 15.

In Sea Isle City, residents and visitors are invited to a POW-MIA Remembrance Ceremony at 6:00 PM on September 15 at VFW Post 1963, located at 301 JFK Boulevard, where the community will pay homage to the United States military members who served as Prisoners of War and those who are still Missing in Action. This event is hosted by Post 1963’s Auxiliary, which is the largest VFW Auxiliary in the state of New Jersey.

Members of the public are also invited to visit Veterans Park on September 15 – or any other day of the year – to view Sea Isle’s “Chair of Honor,” which is a permanent public display that acknowledges captured or missing United States military personnel. Veterans Park is located on Landis Avenue at JFK Boulevard, and it is open to the public year-round.

“I encourage everyone to attend Post 1963’s POW-MIA Ceremony – and later on, please visit Veterans Park, where you will find a Chair of Honor and a beautiful bronze plaque that reminds passersby that the people of our community recognize and honor the American service men and women who were prisoners of war or are still missing in action,” said Mayor Desiderio.

For more information about VFW Post 1963’s 2023 POW-MIA Remembrance Ceremony on September 15, please phone Auxiliary President Peggy Moore at 609-922-3383.
