SEA ISLE CITY – The City Council has adopted a five-year capital spending plan calling for $47 million in projects and acquisitions from 2024 through 2028. The plan also calls for $5.8 million in projects for the Water and Sewer Utility.
The largest component of the plan, approved at the council’s Jan. 9 meeting, has $22.5 million earmarked for roads and for drainage projects. There is $9.8 million for beach, bay and promenade work, $7.5 million for facilities and buildings, and $6.7 million for equipment and vehicles. The remaining funding, about $900,000, is for the marina, operations and office equipment.
Almost $12 million of the $47 million, about 25% of the total, was earmarked in a bond ordinance introduced at the meeting and intended for 2024 projects.
A capital plan identifies potential capital projects, but the projects themselves and the allocation of funds are determined by separate public votes of the governing body.
The city held a workshop in December to review the plan with the public.
Mayor Leonard Desiderio said the city’s 2024 budget should be introduced by Feb. 27, with a public hearing and expected adoption occurring March 26. Desiderio will kick that process off with his State of the City address on Feb. 13, when the administration will present its proposed budget to the council.
