The county will be resurfacing the southerly portion of East Creek Mill Road (Route 347) beginning at Route 47 and continuing north for 1.35 miles tonight through Friday, May 9.
The work will consist of the milling and resurfacing of the roadway under a night paving operation. Work is expected to begin at about 8 p.m. and continue through the night until about 6 a.m., nightly through Friday morning at 6 a.m., when the work is expected to be completed, subject to the weather.
During the paving operation, East Creek Mill Road/Route 347 will be closed to thru traffic, and a detour will be installed. Traffic heading south along Route 47 approaching Route 347 in Maurice River Township will be directed to continue south along Route 47. The southbound lane along Route 347 will be restricted at both the Route 47 and Maurice River Causeway intersections.
Traffic heading north along Route 47 approaching East Creek Mill Road/Route 347 in Dennis Township will be directed north onto Route 47.
State Police officers will be stationed at each end of the detour, and intersecting local streets will be signed and manned with traffic directors.
Local residents and emergency vehicles will always have access along Route 347/East Creek Mill Road during the paving operation. Normal traffic patterns will resume between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. each day.
Motorists are urged to use caution approaching the detour and traveling through the work zone due to limited visibility, slow-moving vehicles and the absence of traffic striping. Stick-down pavement reflectors will be installed at the end of each paving day to delineate the roadway centerline and will remain in place until the roadway receives traffic striping upon paving completion.
