Rooted Wellness Brings Fresh Produce and an All-Inclusive Approach to Health

Herald Staff

MARMORA – For 25 years, John and Terry Brittin owned and operated the Village Pharmacy, a beloved local fixture in Marmora. After the Village Pharmacy closed, the story of Rooted Wellness, a new wellness center and store that helps customers find organic produce, all-natural snacks, and supplements that work alongside their prescriptions, begins with the same staff that made Village Pharmacy so special.

Terry and her son John helped transform Village Pharmacy into Rooted Wellness, open now in Marmora.

Rooted Wellness retains the same friendly faces and community-oriented spirit as the Village Pharmacy; Terry is still smiling brightly behind the counter. She stressed that her staff, which includes her sons John (named after his father, who founded the business) and Timothy, is here to walk alongside their clients on their health journeys. For example: a customer dealing with severe headaches might come in, chat with Terry and the team about the medication they are taking, and curate a food and supplement plan that gets to the root of the issue, working in tandem with the allopathic path set by the customer’s doctor.

Customers can find fresh produce, organic and grass-fed meat, fresh refrigerated meals, and natural baking ingredients. The store also stocks household products, natural cleaners, and vitamin supplements. Customers can even place special orders for bulk vegetables, fruits, wheatgrass, and juicing ingredients in bulk.

“There’s something unique about most of our snacks that make them clean and worth trying,” John Jr. told the Herald. He said that customers who have special dietary requirements can come into the store and work with the staff to devise a food plan that meets their needs – and still tastes great.

The transition from Village Pharmacy to Rooted Wellness is ongoing, with the team actively seeking customer feedback to update their inventory. “We’re slowly bringing in vitamin lines and other health modalities,” John said.

Terry and John’s journey into natural medicine began long before they opened Rooted Wellness. “I wanted the community to be able to walk into a pharmacy and realize there are other options for them,” Terry says.

Their vision for Rooted Wellness goes beyond selling products. They want to educate and support the community in navigating the ever-complicated healthcare system to work towards holistic wellness that takes everything into account: diet, exercise, stress levels, and prescriptions.

“It’s a journey, not a race. We want to walk this together. We want to come up with food plans, wellness plans, exercise programs, to walk together on the journey,” Terry said.

Rooted Wellness offers wellness consultations and works alongside traditional medications to promote overall health. “Most of the time, people don’t understand why their doctors are doing what they are doing or telling them. This place is a hub to bring homeopathic wellness alongside allopathic health,” Terry explained.

The ribbon on Rooted Wellness was cut near the end of last year.

Terry’s philosophy of clean living permeates the store’s offerings; she and her staff stand behind every product they sell, and where they came from. “A lot of this stuff lifts toxins,” she notes. Rooted Wellness also provides resources and consultations to help customers understand their health needs better, emphasizing the importance of knowing where supplements come from and how they can benefit individual health.

Rooted Wellness is more than just a store; it’s a community hub where people can find support, education, and high-quality natural products on their journey to better health.
