THEODORE P.
Theodore P. Roman, Sr., known affectionately as Ted to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025, in Cape May Court House, New Jersey, at the age of 90. Born in Buffalo, New York, on November 9, 1934 to his late parents Joseph J. and Stella C. Slicz Roman, Ted's journey was marked by dedication to his family, community, and a legacy of service that enriched the lives of many.
Ted's unwavering commitment to his family was paramount, sharing 45 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Ruth M. Ford Roman. He was a supportive father to his stepchildren, Michael French and Michele (Bob) Prouty. Though he was predeceased by his son Tom Roman, his memory lives on through his four adoring grandchildren and great-granddaughter, Emma, who brought him immense joy.
A respected figure in the business community, Ted devoted 35 years as a Sears manager across Wildwood, Cape May Court House, and Rio Grande. Recognized for his leadership and insight, he was honored not once but twice as Catalogue Store Manager of the Year. His altruistic spirit extended to various leadership roles, serving as Past President of the Wildwood Lion's Club, Stone Harbor Lion's Club, and the Cape May County Chamber of Commerce.
Ted's extensive contributions to community service included strategic posts on the Board of Directors for the Cape May County United Way, the Cape May County 4-H Club, and the Cape Regional Medical Center. A dedicated Dennis Township Committeeman and a distinguished 4th degree Knights of Columbus, he was the recipient of numerous awards, such as the Melvin Jones Fellow Award, Lion's Member of the Year, Middle Township Businessman of the Year, and the Chapel of the Four Chaplains Award.
Known for his friendly disposition and selfless service, Ted's legacy will be fondly remembered and treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His life's work and generosity of spirit have left an indelible mark on his community and on the hearts of his family and friends.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Church, 561 Route 47 North, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. Interment will immediately follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery.
