PICKERING, CAROL L.
Carol L. Pickering passed away peacefully on March 7th, 2025. Born on May 16th, 1943 in Camden, New Jersey, Carol was a graduate of Middle Township High School, class of 1961. Following high school, she attended the University of Connecticut where she received her Bachelors in Physical Therapy. Upon graduation, Carol returned to Cape May Court House, where she became the first licensed physical therapist in the county and eventually established her own outpatient clinic, Cape Physical Therapy. During her professional career she also worked for Holy Redeemer as the Rehab Director for home health care in New Jersey and Pennsylvania as well as being an instrumental proponent in the development of the rehab department at Burdette.
As a member of the First United Methodist Church of Cape May Court House and the South Seaville Camp Meeting, Carol found ways to serve God as well as those around her. She dedicated her life to caring for others, always prioritizing the needs of those around her. Carol was also a talented artist and her creativity could be seen in every aspect of her life. Her children will always remember her unwavering love, compassionate spirit, and witty humor.
She is survived by her three children: Robert Frankenfield (Laura), Deborah Szigeti (Edward), and Pamela Shute (Thomas), her 11 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband James H. Pickering, parents George and Ethel Langley, sister Patricia Peake, and nephew Tommy Cossaboon.
A service will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at the First United Methodist Church, 1 Church Street, Cape May Court House with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. and service beginning at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to South Seaville Camp Meeting Association, P.O. Box 588, South Seaville, NJ 08246. Please note Carol Pickering Memorial on the donation.
