CAPE MAY CITY – Patrons of the Peter Shields Inn and Restaurant, which has long been a fine dining location in the city, now can enjoy alcoholic beverages to enhance their dining experience.
On Oct. 1 the City Council held a hearing on a person-to-person, place-to-place transfer of a pocket liquor license from Carpenter Street Hospitality Inc. to the Peter Shields. Following the hearing, the council unanimously approved the transfer.
City Solicitor Christopher Gillin-Schwartz explained that the transfer had already been vetted by the Police Department and the Zoning Office.
A set of special conditions on the serving of alcohol at Peter Shields was incorporated into the approving resolution, including limiting service to guests, restricting the sale to indoors with the exception of a designated number of special events, most often weddings, where outdoor service would be allowed, and prohibiting seating at a proposed service bar.
The resolution approving the transfer was effective Oct. 2.
