To The Editor:
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s famed “I Have a Dream Speech,” I am guessing that today, Dr. King would still be espousing the principles that he did in 1963: racial equality, justice for the oppressed, and nonviolence.
Today, the most oppressed living beings in America are non-human animals used for food, lab experiments, and entertainment. Today, the greatest violence occurs in factory farms, laboratories, and slaughterhouses. Today, Dr. King would be advocating for animal rights and joining his wife Coretta and his son Dexter in adopting the vegan lifestyle. Can any of us do any less?
