Lost Freedoms

By Pat McGlinn, North Cape May

To the Editor:
Every day someone else is trying to change our history, our values, and even our morals. We lose something new every day. The things we grew up with are no longer acceptable. The Pledge of Allegiance to our flag is banned from schools, as well as prayer. Unborn children are denied their right to life and are disposed of in the most barbaric way. Veterans who are buried in national cemeteries cannot have God or Jesus mentioned in their burial services. Religious artifacts are not permitted in or on federal buildings.
This is our history. We were founded with the idea of bringing freedoms to all people. Our Constitution is being attacked every day. Slowly, we are losing the right to practice religion the way we were taught. America has been on the frontline in many battles protecting the rights of the citizens of foreign countries, but at home, these freedoms are slipping away.
Now our country has been weakened and our sensibilities have been taken away from us. With every new day, we find something else is gone; something else “offends” someone. We open our doors to foreign refugees in the name of humanitarianism and completely forget the citizens here who are without food and roof over their head. The plights of the refugee are very sad; but come to the United States legally, obtain citizenship, and live your life in your new country.
Now someone has raised an objection over one of our state’s flags. This is our history. Stop letting what we believe in be taken away.
Our government has waged war on marriage, family, and morality. Are we going to let this continue?
