To The Editor:
I feel compelled to write this letter due to the lies and inaccuracies posted in recent Spout Offs. As Middle Township’s CFO, I invite you to review my attendance records for the last two years. I’ll also be happy to provide copies of all of the corresponding doctors’ notes that go along with my absences.
Due to HIPPA laws, Middle Township is unable to respond with anything other than a “no comment” regarding my leaves. While none of what I’m about to tell you is anyone’s business but my own and my family, I feel the need to let you know the realities of my leaves.
I had one child hospitalized with pneumonia. One child hospitalized with a collapsed lung. Two female related surgeries that occurred months apart. I also had a partial hysterectomy that required full abdominal surgery. Regarding my current leave: I am not on “stress” leave as stated in Spout Off. I have been diagnosed with a chronic and debilitating condition that requires me to see a specialist at the University of Pennsylvania.
In the past, when I have had children and been out on leave, the administrator has been able to step in, and together we were always able to keep the office going. Unfortunately, I do not have that luxury with the current administrator.
Regarding the 10-day suspension: I have not had my pending hearing yet. I have filed a complaint with the Wage and Hour Division of the U.S. Department of Labor due to the retaliatory nature of the suspension and the fact that I cannot be expected to complete something while recovering from major surgery.
I have not had a full staff for an entire year for the last three years due to medical-related issues with my staff and myself. I have received no help from administration during these times, or a “thank you” for the extra hours put in to make sure things are getting done.
