Can’t Have Trump in Office

By William Murphy

To the Editor:
Every president in the White House from George Washington to Barack Obama has possessed an element of dignity. We can’t have a Trump in that office. He’s a sophisticated slob and only because he has money. Where did it all begin? From a Queens, N.Y. real estate millionaire named Fred Trump. The Ivy League, the art of the deal and Atlantic City all came later.
In this world of dirty politics, expose is a key word. Let’s see what happens from now to Iowa, New Hampshire to South Carolina? Unfortunately, the Republicans have no one with the courage to take him on. But, eventually you’ll see the exposure and he’ll go down, as will the Republicans, even though the Democrats would prefer to run against him. Should the Republicans run a conservative, as in 1964, they will lose by a large margin. As a secondary assessment, take a look at Trump’s proposals. Can you imagine the cost to deport some 12 million immigrants? To impose a 35 percent tax on imports would require Congress to approve. Will they? If the generals can’t suddenly defeat ISIS, how will Trump? How do we deal with China and Russia besides insulting them? Who said we need a wall? Who’s to say America isn’t great now? How many birth certificates can we check?
Were I to evaluate Mr. Trump’s answers to these multiple problems, hogwash. I’m afraid Mr. Trump is a loser and will eventually wash away with an excuse, as always.
